The good news is rolling in. Women in business are growing their teams, revenues, and awards cabinets. Over the past 15 years revenues are up 58 percent and women-owned businesses exceed the growth rates of all but the biggest publicly traded firms.
A recent study released earlier this week outlines how women owned businesses have grown over the past 15 years. The study estimates that there are more than 8.3 million women-owned businesses in the United States. These businesses generate nearly $1.3 trillion in revenue and are employing almost 7.7 million people.
Women are keeping up with competitors in a wide array of industries, including those that most people would not expect. The top business was the same as last year: BrightStar, a home healthcare and medical staffing company.
“According to our recent State of Women-Owned Businesses report, women-owned enterprises continue to grow and account for 29% of all companies in the United States,” said Sarah Forger, manager of customer advocacy at American Express OPEN.
